I recently updated my laptop to Windows 10, having very decent guts on it, I did not expect much of a change in performance, as on Windows 8.1 I was doing good. All was well, until, I began to notice, it was hanging on Netflix. Having no issues with other streaming sites like Youtube or Pandora, I figured it’s probably heavy online traffic to the site. It wasn’t
Today though, it got worse, I mean audio, video synch issues, and crashing on every browser I tried it on (3 of them to be exact) but to the point where my machine was so frozen I could not get it to shut down.
I began to debug after reporting the issue to Netflix, who were kind enough to inform me, they had an app for that. Naturally, I had no idea, because, hello, I have never owned a Windows phone, and Windows 8.1 was basically a giant Windows Phone, from what I been told, worse than Vista in my opinion.
So I ran anti virus software thinking it might be a worm or something. Nothing, all was well. I restarted the laptop more times than I care to count, and still no fix.
So then, I thought maybe it’s a windows update thing. Which, I had not considered before since, all apps, updated once Windows 10 was installed. Plus, I saw no notifications, that there were updates or restart to update cues anywhere.
So I went down to Notifications which looks like a chat bubble next to the clock on Windows 10 expanded menu, and went to All Settings, then there was a bunch of square icons one of them says Update and Security, and the first thing it showed was the Windows Update Tab, there I saw a cumulative update, set to install at 3 AM, I had no idea, as before on the previous system if anything was waiting a simple restart would get it going.
Contrary what I thought there was no cue for “Install all”, there was simply a button that said Restart. I found that redundant since I had restarted before, but did it anyway since I ran out of options.
Presto, it ran the update and my laptop went back to working normally. Browser and all. The first thing I did was check Netflix, all issues gone.
Pleasant surprise as this is the first time I see a Windows Update that does indeed improve performance.
So, if you find anything wrong with you system, check Windows Updates, Windows 10 is not perfect yet, more like a work in progress, so far, I’m happy that ridiculous Start Screen is gone.
I am usually a fan of brand names and established companies. They have lasted so long because of how they treat customers and what quality of product they sell.
As you know by now, I have two amazing cats, whom at the very least I would like to think I succeed in feeding well. So when it comes to their food, I always thought anything by Purina should do wonders.
So with very good hopes, I got “Be Happy” by Purina:
At first glance it looked like brown poop drops. Lacking color variation, and it smelled unsually bland. Still I fed it to my two darlings. How I regret it, they threw up as soon as they ate it, I thought it was just hairballs or something. Still I fed them this food, giving it the benefit of the doubt. Until a pattern of cleaning puke off the floor and them not eating unless they were super hungry. More puke. The bag still had about ten servings left when I decided to trash it. My babies had lost an impressive amount of weight, and happy cats they were not.
Lesson learned just because it has a reputable company written on the label does not mean that it will be what it advertises. My cats are not at all picky or even rare breeds, they have simple tastes, apparently this cardboard colored bland smelling garbage they call food was not to their standards. I should have known even the packaging is boring.
So my dears are back to Friskies . A wonderful product by Purina that has all my cats love, and then some I’m sure. The food not only smells delicious, but is colorful and it’s small bite size pieces. Since we been back on Friskies, my baby Nolan gained back his normal weight and so has Sammy.
This got me thinking about Animal Cops, how they claim animals are not skinny because they are being fed but because they are starving. While that is true in 99.9 percent of the cases. There is still that rare percentage of people whom I will give the benefit of doubt. I fed my cats “Be Happy” and happy I was not after they ended up looking like the malnourished cases on Animal Planet.
Lesson learned, if the food you give your pet, you can’t imagine eating yourself, then don’t expect your pet to.
Who said TV does not inspire. Lately I been seeing this whimsical, for a lack of a better word, Pepsi Commercial, The slogan is “Live for Now”. Usually the moments in our lives are punctuated and are remembered more by the things that happen around us than for what actually happens.
I’m not a particularly huge fan of Nikki whatever her name is, in my opinion Michael and Britney have done worlds better. However this repetitive question did get me thinking, about how would you answer it. The question this time is “If I could have this moment for life?” Granted, is not quite a question but I drowned the rest of the lyrics, and asked my self what if.
If I could have any moment for life which would it be and why? I have many wonderful memories in my life especially in the last seven years.
The more I thought about it I would have given anything to have, the bus rides to school with my best friend Martin. Those are the moments I think back on these days. He made me laugh cheered me up and taught me a thing or two about people. I would definitively have those moments for life.
